Ohio law permits minors ages 14 to 18 to become employed so long as they have a working permit and their employment conforms to certain restrictions. (These restrictions can be found in the Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109. The Willard High School Guidance Department may be able to answer your questions.) At age 18 and over, no person needs to get a work permit. In general, although some jobs are available for 14 and 15 year olds, most of the permits we process are issued to 16 year olds.

In order to obtain a work permit, Willard City Schools' students should follow the process outlined below

Visit Guidance to obtain 3 necessary forms.
  • The Application for Employment Certificate-completed by parent or guardian
  • The Pledge of Employer-completed by the employer
  • The Physician's Certificate-completed by a medical doctor
  • Once the above forms are completed, return them to the Guidance Office along with a copy of your Birth Certificate.

    Allow 3-5 days for processing.

Return to the Guidance Office to sign your work permit. The Guidance Office will then mail your permit to your employer.
