AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION
Course Objectives:
Provides instruction in woodworking, metalworking, animal identification, animal evaluation, crop production, and computer software application. Introduces students to agricultural occupations. Develops premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through participation in the FFA. Extensive personal and group recognition and awards are available through participation in skills contests, fundraisers, and scholarship activities.
AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION 2 -- Grade 10, 11, 12 -- 1.25 units of credit
Course Objectives:
Provides advanced instruction in metalworking, computer software application, and animal sciences (evaluation, nutrition, and reproduction), as well as introductory instruction in welding, oxyacetylene torch operation, small engine repair, electricity, agronomy, weeds, wildlife. Provides open shop work for accepted SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects. Develops premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through participation in the FFA. Extensive personal and group recognition and awards are available through participation in skills contests, fundraisers, and scholarship activities. Must have successful experience in Ag Ed 1.
AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION 3 -- Grade 11, 12 -- 1.25 units of credit
Course Objectives:
Provides advanced instruction in computer softward application, animal sciences (nutrition and reproduction) equipment maintenance, wildlife, weed identification, and soil testing, as well as introductory instruction in agricultural marketing and water control. Provides open shop work for SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects. Develops premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through participation in the FFA. Extensive personal and group recognition and awards are available through participation in skills contests, fundraisers, and scholarship activities. Attendance to and participation in numerous field trips and career seminars is provided.
Students should have successfully completed Ag Ed 1 and 2.
AGRI-BUSINESS 11 -- Grade 11 -- 1.25 units of credit
Course Objectives:
Provides introductory instruction in principles and practices used in our nation’s largest industry, agriculture. Includes instruction in business management ( organization, capitalization, management controls, entrepreneurship, and legalities), operations management (human resources, personnel development, risk management, warehousing, inventory control, marketing and sales, public relations, financial records, and credit), and computer applications (word processing, spreadsheet, and database). Provides open shop work for SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects. Develops premier leadership and personal growth through participation in the FFA. Extensive personal and group recognition and awards are available through participation in skills contests, fundraisers, and scholarship activities. Attendance to and participation in numerous field trips and career seminars is provided. No agricultural background is required.
AGRI-BUSINESS 12 -- Grade 12 -- 1.50 unit of credit
Course Objectives:
Provides advanced instruction in principles and practices used in our nation’s largest industry, agriculture. Includes instruction in business management, operations management, and computer applications. Students must complete 450 hours in an acceptable job placement and produce records proving such in order to receive credit for the course. Provides open shop work for SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects. Develops premier leadership and personal growth through participation in the FFA. Extensive personal and group recognition and awards are available through participation in skills contests, fundraisers, and scholarship activities. Attendance to and participation in numerous field trips and career seminars is provided.Must have completed Agri-Business 11.
